Vutakaka Junior School
When the EAC asked the community in Takaungu how we could best help them, we were asked to start a top-notch professional Nursery and Primary School. The EAC opened the Vutakaka Junior School on January 6, 2004, and it quickly filled to capacity.
Through our program, we currently serve approximately 270 children filling classrooms of 30 students per grade from Kindergarden through 6th grade. Our school is staffed by top-notch, qualified teachers from the local community and assisted by interns from graduate programs around the world and our students consistently score highest among students from the surrounding 30 schools in the District.
There is overwhelming demand for our school, and we can accommodate only a fraction of the students who desire to enter our program. Each year we add a classroom to the school ensuring that the children who began in our first class almost 5 years ago, will be able to continue their education with us. By 2012 we will have a complete Primary and Junior schools and provided Vutakaka students with the opportunity to score high enough on exams to be accepted into quality high schools around Kenya.
With additional funding, it is our goal to build a new school that could provide a first class education to many more children, and offer grades pre-school through high school.

After-School Tutoring
The EAC provides after-school tutoring to primary and secondary school students in our library five days a week. Children literally run to our tutoring program after the local public school lets out. Our tutoring program is so important to the children we serve, especially since the public school classrooms typically have nearly 100 students in a single class. It often is the only place that they can get personalized attention.
